Food for Hair Growth


Men and women, both wish to have strong hair. Women especially love long hair. These days even children are conscious about hair and hair styles. Hair plays a major role in the world of fashion and celebrities. Nowadays, dog hairstyles are also gaining popularity worldwide! But, you can try various hair styles, only you have healthy and strong hair. Though genetics determine the growth of hair, you can always stimulate the hair growth with the help of some external and natural ways. Whatever way you opt for, a healthy diet is essential to supplement the other methods, implemented for fast and healthy hair growth. A healthy diet is good for body as well as the growth of the hair.
Healthy Food for Hair Growth

Vitamins: Always opt for a healthy balanced diet, rich in vitamin B12, as it can be the best food for hair growth. The vitamins A, B, C, E and K should be present in your diet in adequate proportions, otherwise, hair will appear dull and lifeless. These are the essential vitamins for hair growth. Fruits and vegetables like cabbage, apricots, peaches, milk, fish liver oil, carrots and sweet potatoes are Vitamin A rich while vitamin B is present in nuts and green vegetables. Vitamin C is found in most of the citrus fruits like lemons, oranges and strawberries, green peppers, pineapples, kiwi etc., while vitamin E is found in grains, wheat germ oil, nuts, green leafy vegetables, soybeans, dried beans and raw seeds.

Proteins: A regular and balanced supply of proteins can prove to be a better food for healthy hair growth, as hair itself is made up of proteins. That is the reason why high protein diet helps hair grow faster. As you know, dairy products like milk and yogurt and poultry products like chicken and eggs along with fish, sprouts, nuts, cheese, pulses and lentils are rich sources of proteins, which encourage fast hair growth and hence, should be included in your diet regularly.

Dietary Supplements: Amino acid supplements are easily available and peanut butter is a rich source of amino acids which helps in protein synthesis. Doctors generally prescribe vitamin supplements or multivitamins if you want your hair to grow fast. Other dietary supplements like biotin vitamins, prenatal vitamins, MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) and Omega 3 can prove to be good foods for hair growth. Supplements of folic acid which is actually present in green leafy vegetables, beans, peas, sunflower seeds and some cereals can also be suggested as good food for hair growth.

Essential Oils: As your body requires adequate liquids or fluids for good health, hair also requires adequate and regular supply of essential oils like rosemary, lavender, ginger, jojoba, sesame, basil, avocado, tea tree oil, olive, castor, lemon, almond and coconut oil. A proper daily massage of ten minutes with one of these essential oils for hair growth, can stimulate the scalp and improve the blood circulation, which can result in strong hair roots and long, healthy hair. Using good quality hair care products, having no chemical ingredients, can prevent dandruff and hair loss. Applying henna or massage with vitamin E oil or the above oils is quite beneficial and will work as supplementary food for hair growth. Along with all these one should drink a lot of water too.
